Terms of Service

The terms that govern our engagement and your use of this website.

Last updated: 2 November 2026

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Doctor's Tax website and, where applicable, the professional services we provide. By using this website or engaging our services, you agree to these terms.

In summary

Website content is general information, not personal financial advice. Formal advice is only provided under a signed engagement letter. You're responsible for the accuracy of information you give us, and for meeting your own lodgement deadlines.

1. About These Terms

Doctor's Tax ("we", "us", "our") provides accounting, taxation, superannuation and related advisory services. These terms apply to all visitors to our website and to all clients, in addition to any signed engagement letter or service agreement. Where there is inconsistency, the signed engagement letter prevails.

2. No Personal Advice on This Website

All content on this website — including articles, guides, checklists, calculators, case studies and FAQ answers — is general information only. It does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs, and must not be relied upon as personal tax, financial, legal or investment advice. Tax law changes frequently and outcomes vary by individual circumstance. Always obtain specific advice before acting.

3. Scope of Professional Services

Our professional services are provided only under a signed engagement letter that sets out the scope, deliverables, fees and timeframe. Services outside that scope require separate agreement.

We are registered tax agents but are not liable for the acts of third parties such as the ATO, ASIC, financial institutions, insurers or legal advisers. Any financial product advice is provided by appropriately licensed third parties, not by Doctor's Tax.

4. Your Responsibilities

  • Provide complete, accurate and timely information, records and documentation
  • Review all documents we prepare before signing or lodging
  • Notify us promptly of any change in circumstances that may affect your tax position
  • Meet your own statutory deadlines, including supplying information to us in time to lodge
  • Maintain records as required by law for the required retention period
  • Verify any figures we provide before relying on them for financial decisions

If information you provide is incomplete or inaccurate, our advice and lodgements may be affected, and you remain responsible for penalties, interest or adjustments arising from that information.

5. Fees and Payment

Our fees are set out in your engagement letter or a written quotation. Fixed annual fees cover the scope described. Additional work outside scope is quoted before it is performed wherever practical. Invoices are payable within the terms stated on the invoice. We may suspend work on overdue accounts. Fees may be reviewed annually with notice.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability arising from or in connection with our services is limited to the fees paid by you for the specific service giving rise to the claim, or the re-supply of that service at our option. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, opportunity or business. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including text, design, graphics, logos and downloadable materials, is owned by or licensed to Doctor's Tax and protected by copyright. You may view and print content for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, distribute or republish it without our written permission.

8. Third-Party Links

This website may link to external sites we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices, and links do not imply endorsement.

9. Website Availability

We aim to keep this website available and accurate but do not warrant uninterrupted access or that it is free of errors. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site at any time. Content may be updated or become outdated between updates.

10. Confidentiality

We treat all client information as confidential and only disclose it as described in our Privacy Policy, as authorised by you, or as required by law.

11. Termination

Either party may terminate the engagement with reasonable written notice. Fees for work performed to the date of termination remain payable. We may decline to act or cease acting where required by professional obligations, including where we identify a conflict of interest or are required to do so by the Tax Practitioners Board.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of New South Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
